TEACHING

Hello Fiddlers! I teach the fiddle and hardanger fiddle in the following styles: Irish, Scottish, Old-Time, and Scandinavian. Growing up attending Alasdair Fraser’s Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddle School exposed me to so many wonderful fiddle and teaching styles. Encouraged by that community, I studied fiddle at Berklee College of Music and the hardanger fiddle at Høgskolen i Telemark in Rauland, Norway.

My main goal for our lessons is to make sure that you’re having fun! During our first lesson, I like to hear about your musical background and goals so that I can cater our lessons to your individual wants and needs. Like many fiddle teachers, I primarily teach by ear. I teach tunes and techniques (both basic instrumental techniques and stylistic techniques) and can delve into basic chords and music theory in ways that will enhance your musical experience.

I teach half hour or hour lessons — currently online via Zoom and, when safe, in my studio in Los Angeles.

Please be in touch if you have any questions or want to schedule a lesson!
